The Child & Family Institute specializes in evidenced-based treatment and assessment of youths of all ages, including young adults. Behavioral health issues that are addressed with individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are anxiety disorders including separation anxiety, selective mutism, specific phobia, and social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), high functioning autism spectrum disorder, learning disorders, tic disorder, habit disorders, anger, behavior problems, and conduct disorder. They also offer help with organization skills, executive functioning skills, and study skills. The Child & Family Institute offers social anxiety CBT groups for children, adolescents, and young adults. They offer behavioral parent training. Very young children are seen in treatment with their parent or parents. They engage in school consultation for the clients they see and participate in individual education program (IEP)/committee on special education (CSE) meetings at school. They offer neuropsychological assessment and psychoeducational assessment. There is a psychiatrist in-house for those with moderate to severe symptoms who would benefit from medication. In Fall 2015, they look forward to offering trauma focused CBT (TF-CBT), as well as a whole health and nutritional counseling program. Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes. Group sessions are 1 hour. CBT is a time-limited, goal-focused treatment, and the typical length of treatment is 4 to 6 months. Depending on the issue and severity, treatment could be closer to a year, but one should see improvement within 4 to 6 months. Behavioral parent training usually takes 2 to 3 months.
