Joanna Robin, Ph.D., Westchester Anxiety Treatment, 34 South Broadway, Suite 104, White Plains, NY 10601. Joanna Robin, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist in private practice in White Plains, NY. Dr. Robin is part of Westchester Anxiety Treatment, a group private practice. Dr. Robin and the other clinicians at Westchester Anxiety Treatment specialize in the treatment of anxiety throughout the lifespan, for the child, adolescent, and adult, primarily with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Anxiety disorders addressed include obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), selective mutism, school refusal, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and specific phobias. She also works with disruptive behavior disorders, using parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), an approach for children ages 2-7, adapted for children with anxiety. If parents prefer, she offers parent training rather than parent-child interaction therapy. Dr. Robin offers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intensives, which are short-term, intensive treatments for a specific phobia. Intensive treatment can be either one week for a couple of hours per day, or one day for a few hours; this is most commonly scheduled over school holidays or summer vacation. Examples of phobias that can be addressed are a specific phobia of costumed characters, and blood-injection-injury, including needle, phobia. Dr. Robin runs social anxiety groups for high school age and for college age kids. These are 12 week, one session per week, group treatments for social anxiety. Currently, a group is not running; she hopes there will be a social anxiety group beginning in March for high school age kids. College age groups are usually in May or August. Dr. Robin’s individual sessions are 45 minutes; group sessions are 1 hour, 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. The typical length of treatment is about 12-16 sessions, although it can be less or more. Dr. Robin’s office hours are Monday through Thursday. She is not on insurance company panels; however, she does give paperwork to submit to one’s insurance company for out-of-network benefits. Her office is located in a professional building, with some street parking and a mall indoor parking lot right next door. In addition to private practice, Dr. Robin is on the voluntary faculty of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center.
