Catherine Daniels, M.D., 450 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 414, Harrison, NY 10528. Catherine Daniels, M.D., is a psychiatrist in private practice at Full Circle Family Care, a center made up of multiple private practices that focus on women’s health throughout the reproductive life span. Dr. Daniels sees women, ages 18 and over, with anxiety, mood disorders, and symptoms related to reproductive life events. As a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, Dr. Daniels collaborates with other providers in the treatment of people with various medical problems, and anxiety related to health conditions. Her interest in women’s mental health includes an interest in symtpoms during pregnancy, postpartum (following the birth of a child), and menopause. Dr. Daniels helps women evaluate the pros and cons of medication use during pregnancy. She takes a comprehensive history of the longitudinal pattern of symptoms and functioning, and with her understanding of the data, based on the scientific literature, on what is known and what is not known about medication during pregnancy and postpartum, helps women to make a decision for themselves about whether to take medication during pregnancy and postpartum. She helps women whose goal is to minimize medication use during pregnancy, which involves individual choices about which exposure one is more comfortable with, one’s particular symptoms or medication, and what the treatment options are. Dr. Daniels also does psychotherapy, and her approach draws on psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for trauma. She does both short-term and long-term psychotherapy. In addition to in-office sessions, Dr. Daniels also does home visits for mothers on bedrest or who are postpartum. Her initial sessions are 75 minutes. Follow-up visits for psychotherapy or more involved medication issues are 45 minutes, and follow-up visits for more general medication treatment are 30 minutes. Frequency and length of treatment varies widely; some people who work with other professionals see her for a one-time consultation to discuss the pros and cons of medication during pregnancy; others see her once a week, once a month, or quarterly. Dr. Daniels is happy to collaborate with midwives, obstetrician-gynecologists, and providers outside of Full Circle. Dr. Daniels takes Medicare insurance. Her office hours are Monday evenings, Thursdays, and Friday mornings. Her office is part of the Full Circle center, which is a suite of offices in an office building close to two major highways, with plenty of free parking in the back lot.
