Tiziana Didonna, M.S., Pelham Middle School, 28 Franklin Place, Pelham, NY, 10803. Tiziana Didonna, M.S., is a school psychologist at Pelham Middle School in Pelham, NY. Ms. Didonna works with Pelham Middle School students providing evaluation, testing, and counseling. Some of the children are mandated by the special education department, through an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and some are not mandated, but referred by themselves, parents, teachers, or the guidance department. Some children who have an Individualized Education Program that does not include counseling also come for counseling on their own, or by referral. Issues in individual counseling include anxiety, social issues such as conflict resolution and coping skills, and attention issues. Some children come for counseling every day, others come about 3 times for a specific issue, and then say they do not need to come back. Children who are mandated for counseling come the mandated number of days, plus more as needed. Ms. Didonna works with any outside clinician a child might be seeing, to promote consistency and use the strategies in school that the child is working on with the outside clinician. Ms. Didonna is currently leading a 7th grade boys group that focuses on social issues. The group meets once per cycle and runs through the school year. In the past, she has co-led a divorce group. Lunch-time groups are usually by gender and grade. Ms. Didonna is part of the Therapeutic Support Program, along with a teacher in the therapeutic support classroom dedicated to this program. Ms. Didonna’s office is conveniently located right near this classroom, in the classroom area that connects the high school to the middle school. The program helps children with emotional issues that get in the way of learning. The program focuses on both emotional support and helping the kids keep up with their academic work.
