Westchester Group Works, 600 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 400, Harrison, NY 10528. Westchester Group Works is a center in Harrison, NY, that offers group therapy. Westchester Group Works offers groups that are primarily social skills based, for mid- to high- functioning children, teens, and adults. Michelle Maidenberg, Ph.D., M.P.H., L.C.S.W.-R., C.G.P., is the president and clinical director. Dr. Maidenberg currently runs a college age, young adult group that is social skills based, for those with underlying anxiety and depression. The treatment approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. The group meets once every other week, for 1 1/2 hours, Monday evenings. At various times throughout the year, Westchester Group Works offers social skills groups for kids kindergarten age and up, in developmentally age appropriate groups, led by other group therapists. Groups run for 1 hour, and include a didactic (teaching) component and an experiential component: a session will begin with a review of a social skill, and continue with a game, role-play, or other practice of the social skill. Currently there are two new groups starting: a child/preadolescent group (ages 8 and 9) and a teen group (high school age). Another therapist, Robin Spillane, will be running these groups. Kids in these groups are mid- to -high functioning, often with attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or are kids who are just socially awkward, and not getting social cues. Westchester Group Works is not on insurance company panels, and so is out-of-network. The office is located in a professional building, with plenty of free parking, and is close to two highways. The building is wheelchair accessible through a back entrance. Contact the Dr. Maidenberg, the director, by phone at (914) 301-9474, or by email at mmaidenberg@westchestergroupworks.com.
