Melanie Wadkins, Ph.D., Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Research, 333 Westchester Avenue, North building, White Plain, NY 10604. Melanie Wadkins, Ph.D. is a psychologist in private practice in White Plains, NY. Dr. Wadkins works with children, pre-adolescents, teens, and adults, with a specialization in anxiety and depression. She describes her approach as collaborative cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Her academic interests and research keep her current in evidence-based practices. Dr. Wadkins also provides psychoeducational/neuropsychological testing for children whose families are wondering if their child qualifies for services at school; when indicated, she attends scheduled meetings at the school to help the family advocate for those services. She also provides re-evaluations, or more specialized evaluations, for children who have already had some assessment, but need to supplement the testing already done. For example, she does supplemental testing for a child who has had an evaluation at school, but needs further evaluation for Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Dr. Wadkins also provides testing for diagnostic clarity in mental health disorders. Office hours are Monday and Tuesday, afternoons and evenings, for individual therapy sessions, and Friday and Saturday for psychoeducational testing, so that kids do not have to miss school. Individual sessions are typically 45-50 minutes. Clear goals and checking in on progress are both part of treatment and inform the number of sessions, which tend to be between 16-20. Dr. Wadkins does not take insurance, but finds that most people get reimbursement from their insurance companies for out-of-network benefits. Her office is located near a major highway, in an office building with plenty of parking. Dr. Wadkins can be reached by phone at (914) 517-1386, or by email at melanie.wadkins@einstein.yu.edu. Dr. Wadkins is an Assistant professor in the Child clinical-school psychology doctoral program at Yeshiva University.
