Richard DioGuardi, Ph.D., 600 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 400, Harrison, NY 10528. Richard DioGuardi, Ph.D., is a child clinical psychologist in private practice in Harrison, NY. Dr. DioGuardi works with children, as young as 3, adolescents, young adults, and adults. He utilizes an integrative approach to treatment that is solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-oriented, and relational, pulling from a variety of areas to best fit each client. For younger kids, this is usually a combination of CBT and play therapy. As part of the treatment process, he consults with parents, teachers, pediatricians, and any other relevant outside providers, including psychiatrists. Dr. DioGuardi sees children with behavior disorders and impulse-control disorders, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as kids who present with anxiety and depression. The anxiety can be related to separation or related to school; school anxiety can be around social interactions or academics. Anxiety around academics is often accompanied by frustration with struggles with school work; this can be due to an undiagnosed learning disability. Dr. DioGuardi works with young adults with depression, anxiety, work-related issues, and relationship issues. Adults come to treatment for anger management, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, marital issues, and general coping with life stress. He often gives clients homework, to practice techniques and skills they are working on in session. Dr. DioGuardi does psychological testing and psychoeducational testing. He is dual certified as a clinical psychologist and as a school psychologist. In addition to private practice, Dr. DioGuardi is a school psychologist at John Cardinal O’Connor School, in Irvington, NY, a school for students with learning disabilities, grades 2 to 8. As a school psychologist, he offers counseling, testing, and consultation to students. Dr. DioGuardi’s private practice office hours are Monday through Friday, 12 to 8 p.m. Individual sessions are 45 minutes. He is on the following insurance panels: Empire, Aetna, and Amerigroup.
