Rhea Johnson, M.D., 66 Main Street, Bedford Hills, NY 10507. Rhea Johnson, M.D., is a psychiatrist in private practice in Bedford Hills, NY. Dr. Johnson provides psychopharmacology for adults, including young adults ages 17 and older. Dr. Johnson provides medication management but not psychotherapy. For those referred by a therapist, she works in a very collaborative way with the therapist, as a team. Dr. Johnson provides medication evaluations and for those not working with a therapist, often encourages people to see a psychotherapist as part of the treatment plan. Dr. Johnson works with women and men, primarily with anxiety disorders and mood disorders including depressive disorders and bipolar disorder, as well as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She has an interest in reproductive psychiatry, and sees women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder, as well as women during pregnancy, after pregnancy, those who have experienced a pregnancy loss, and women in perimenopause. Dr. Johnson has an integrated approach in which along with medication, she works with a person on whole health, including sleep, diet and nutrition, movement, and other behaviors that need attention, in collaboration with one’s internist or gynecologist. Dr. Johnson also works with some people for a finite time as a consultant to offer a second opinion of a medication plan if a person is not sure if he or she is on the right medication, to take a person off of medication, or to streamline a person’s medications. She meets with people who are hesitant about medication, to talk about whether or not to take medication, so that the person has the opportunity to make an informed choice about taking it or not. This includes people who have never been on medication, and would like some education about what to expect. Initial evaluations are two appointments, and include time spent reviewing one’s medication options and what one can expect, as well as what are reasonable targets. Sessions are 35-40 minutes. Dr. Johnson is not on insurance panels and is therefore an out-of-network provider. Her office hours are Monday 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Tuesday 12 p.m.-3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m., Thursday 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Friday 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. Her office is located near the train station and town, in a two-office carriage house, with free on-street parking.
