Nirit Pisano, Ph.D., 45 Popham Road, Suite 1E, Scarsdale, NY 10583. Nirit Pisano, Ph.D., is a psychologist in private practice in Scarsdale, NY. Dr. Pisano works with children ages 6 and up, adolescents, and adults in psychodynamic psychotherapy; she stays open to other approaches as well, incorporating cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral elements as necessary. Dr. Pisano specializes in trauma and its effects that are transmitted between generations, including Holocaust survivor trauma and Holocaust issues, as well any other history of trauma such as traumas associated with genocide, physical abuse, sexual abuse, immigration, or relocation. Any major events that have shaped one’s parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents that remain unresolved can become unspoken themes, and working on these issues and putting them in context can make a difference, and shift things in the present. Her work with trauma includes thinking about family dynamics and how the trauma impacts the present day. Dr. Pisano also works with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, transitions, and family or life changes such as being new to parenthood or divorce. She works in coordination with hospitals and partial-hospital programs for people who have suicidal or other high-risk behaviors. Her sessions are generally once per week, although she meets with some people twice per week. There is also an option to have sessions by Skype. Individual sessions are 45 minutes; couples and family sessions are 1 hour. First sessions are 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. Her office hours are Tuesday all day, Wednesday afternoons and evenings, Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons. Scheduling is flexible, and weekend hours, early morning or late evening hours can be available if needed. She is not on insurance company panels, but does work on a sliding scale if possible, depending on a person’s needs. Her first floor office is in a building located in town, near the shops, with on-street, metered parking and free one-hour parking, both around the corner.
