Eating Disorders services at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Westchester Division in White Plains, NY, include an inpatient eating disorders unit, called The Outlook, as well as outpatient services. The Outlook, as with all inpatient units, is located in the main building. Outpatient services are located in the outpatient department building. The Outlook is an 17-bed inpatient unit, for females and males, adolescents and adults, that is behaviorally-based, treating people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and unspecified feeding or eating disorders, including overeating. There are separate wings on the unit for adolescents and adults. Services can include processing after all meals, daily rounds with the treatment team, individual work with a therapist, and group work throughout the day. Typical length of stay is 7-14 days. The program is headed by a psychiatrist, Evelyn Attia, M.D. Program features may include diagnostic evaluation, individual therapy, family interventions, pharmacotherapy as indicated, and electroconvulsive therapy when appropriate.
